Organisational Healing
Autumn 2019
As we head at an ever-increasing pace towards 2020, we are witness all around us to a state of life that is breaking down.
Whether it be the stifling of life within our oceans, the constant threat of catastrophic war or the unrelenting pressure of our constantly ‘Switched On’ culture, we are having to work ever harder to experience the beauty and happiness that we know is possible but is ever more elusive.
Through our own searching, we have come to realise that happiness cannot be found in material possessions, at the bottom of a glass or in ever more thrilling ways of recreating the adrenaline rush that is the closest we come to joy.
Our young people have retreated into a virtual reality and our adult population either consumes more, runs faster, knows better, or has simply surrendered to the drudgery of a seemingly purposeless existence or the fear of a life spent saving for retirement or keeping the wolves away from the door.
Whichever way, the law of greed is winning out over the wisdom of giving to receive and both young and older resort to social media echo chambers to create some sense of self-worth only to find that they are at best vacuous and fragile and that true friendship relies on values that run far deeper and have to be truly earned.
The sound of silence is a distant, and for many, frightening memory as stress continues to grow and to have devastating and wide-ranging effects …
Is this all that there is and ever can be?
No it is not.
These so called sweeping generalisations may be true but there is another side to the story …
There are also many, young and older, who have found a way that allows a path of fulfilment to unfold and in the main they have transcended the Law of Greed and found that compassion is awakened in the service of others.
Never before has the need for change been so starkly present and with the large-scale rejection of religious ideologies in some parts of society, a new form of faith is rising. This turning of the tide away from religion as it was has been a necessary movement within the spiral of change, as the evolution of consciousness begins to outgrow an outmoded view of a punishing God made in Man’s image and seeks to find a greater truth. But that truth comes with responsibility and as greater numbers begin to discover, including those enlightened scientists & religious leaders, that the true God is a pure harmonious energy residing at the heart of all things including ourselves, it is also beginning to dawn on us that the devastation and destruction around us is of our own doing …and could therefore also be of our undoing if we could harness the power of our own positive, harmonious & compassionate thought.
And what of the atheist? They also have belief which is a non-belief in a religious God, which, as has been stated, is an understandable and perhaps necessary evolution of consciousness, but an atheist who does not believe in energy, in love or in the importance of compassion, is much harder to find.
The turning away from religion has also had another effect. As humanity has noted the paradox of a punishing God and a loving God, words like Love, Prayer and Healing have also been rejected. As the Churches, Mosques and Synagogues have become less significant as the centre of communities and the family structure has begun to break down, we have become more individualistic, valuing independence and believing in the survival of the fittest, coming together to compete rather than to commune and to seek support from each other.
Recent times have taught us the power of unity in the name of love: the outpouring of compassion that moved like a wave through the world when Diana died, the call to prayer in Manchester more recently, for example, but the lesson seems to be momentary, we seem to soon to let go of the power of that Love rather than holding on to it and building on it.
Compassion which is Healing is vital to our future
This is but a moment in time: in 2020 we may discover again that it is our world to look after or to destroy, to understand that there is no planet B. To find again that Love does live at the heart of all things and that “God” is but the living energy of Love, of Compassion within us. What is for certain is that we are hurtling rapidly towards a crisis, change must come, how we experience that change will depend on our own attitudes, values and principles, but it will be a time when those that can will be called on to be an example of a different way, a way of Love.
