And so the world has turned and 2020 is with us. Not just the start of a new decade but the end of an old way and beginning of a new time. Despite the continuing outer signs of disruption, despair and sadness, a change is taking place, a change for the better.
The question that remains for this time is how much devastation does humanity need to face before recognising first their responsibility within it and secondly their power to change it. What will become defining during this new time is whether the choice is for the good of all or whether that power is used purely for self-serving purposes of greed and self promotion.
It is easy to look into the world from an “us and them” perspective : those terrorists, those perpetrators of evil, those politicians, those religious fanatics, those that destroy the planet, but the opportunity now is that we recognise once and for all that we are one humanity upon the Earth, brothers and sisters, you could say, with the same purpose of learning and guardianship of eachother and the planet. When we accept that, take responsibilty for our thoughts, our words, our actions then the potential for a momentous tide of positive change in this new time will begin to manifest all around us.
2020 is undoubtedly a year of expectation, of possibility of change for the better, it is up to each individual, each organisation, each community to decide which part it wishes to play, if it wishes to embrace this potential or if it desires to hold onto the ways of old, continuing a pattern of negativity, conflict and destruction. Those that thrive will be those that look beneath the surface and see the unseen, understand the new way of compassion and unity, those who engage in the change with enthusiasm and purpose. Those who will struggle within the newness will be those that harbour ill-will, those who use their power unwisely, those whose thoughts turn always to darkness.
Everything is there for us if we choose to accept this new time as a time of enlightenment, a time that offers peace within ourselves, within our organisations, our families and communities and within the Earth itself.
